Cook Time 20 minutes
Total Time 25 minutes
Servings 6 people

Equipment

  • 1 pot

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 tbsp butter or oil
  • 1 small onion chopped
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • 1 box pasta elbow, uncooked
  • 4 cups beef broth
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1-2 cups milk see notes
  • 2-3 cups shredded cheese cheddar
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Add your butter or oil to your pot and then add your chopped onion and minced garlic. Sauté over medium heat for three minutes.
  • Add your ground beef and cook until nearly done, with just a little pink remaining.
  • Now, add your beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, tomato paste, and uncooked pasta.
  • Simmer for 10-15 minutes, until the pasta is al dente.
  • Reduce the heat to medium-low and add your milk.
  • Add your cheese and stir to combine.
  • If the pasta seems too dry, add additional broth until desired consistency is reached.

Notes

The amount of milk I add varies. I don't drain my meat because it comes from a local farmer and doesn't have a lot of fat. I've had my hamburger helper be too dry before. So if yours is looking like you won't have a sufficient amount of liquid, add more milk 1/4 cup at a time until your desired consistency is reached.
