Homemade Seasoning Blends

Skip the preservatives in the store bought and make your own homemade seasoning blends! Not only can you control the ingredients but you can benefit from the lower cost and convenience.

Taco Seasoning

  • 3 tablespoon chili powder
  • 2 tablespoon cumin
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika*
  • 1 tablespoon oregano
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon pepper

Chili Seasoning

  • 3 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon cumin
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika*
  • 1 teaspoon coriander
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes

Montreal Steak Seasoning

  • 2 tablespoon coarse pepper
  • 2 tablespoon coarse salt
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika*
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon dill
  • 1 tablespoon red pepper flakes
  • 2 teaspoon coriander
  • 2 teaspoon ground mustard

BBQ Seasoning

  • 3 tablespoon lightly packed brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoon onion powder
  • 3 tablespoon smoked paprika*
  • 3 tablespoon chili powder
  • 2 teaspoon salt*
  • 1 teaspoon ginger
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon pepper

Pumpkin Pie Spice

  • 3 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon ginger
  • 1 tablespoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon allspice
  • 1 teaspoon clove
  • 1/4 teaspoon coriander*

To put these seasoning blends together, simply add the ingredients to your storage container of choice (check these out) and shake!

  1. I know on the Chili Seasoning you said you use 3-4 Tbsp for a pot of chili. I didn’t hear you mention how much Taco Seasoning you use for a pound of Hamburger or Chicken. I know most of this is to our taste but since I have always used the package mixes what’s a good starting point on how much to use? Is it the same 3-4 Tbsp per pound of meat? That sounds like alot to me.

    1. This is a great question. Typically the taco seasoning packets from the store are one ounce. That’s the equivalent to two tablespoons. That’s what I would use for a pound of meat, two tablespoons. Thank you for this question!
